Medical assisting jobs are available in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, and other healthcare facilities. Medical assistants are needed to perform administrative tasks as well as clinical duties such as taking vital signs and recording patient information in the medical record.
The time it takes to become a medical assistant depends on the program you choose. Some schools offer courses that are part-time and can be completed in two years or less. Other programs are designed for students who want to complete their studies on a full-time basis.
To become a medical assistant, you must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent and graduate an education program.
A medical assistant’s job is to assist medical professionals in various ways, including taking vital signs, recording patient information, preparing patients for exams and treatments, and helping them during their appointments.
