Program Overview

As a CMVC student, you will learn the skills needed to obtain a dental assistant career. Each class in the Dental Assistant Program will focus on a dental assistant’s preparation and daily tasks. Dental assistants can complete clinical and administrative tasks.CMVC’s dental assistant school will teach students how to complete dental assistant tasks, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient data, processing X-ray images, proper usage of dental terminology/laws and regulations for in-office and outside communication, dental sanitation protocols, and more!Attending CMVC’s DA program can give aspiring dental assistants the knowledge and tools needed to help them become dental assistants. Classes are offered in person or online; the decision for how learning is given will be up to the student. Externships are mandatory in person. The dental assistant schooling will take approximately 45 weeks to complete, with a completion of 915 clock hours.

What You Will Learn at CMVC

The Dental Assistant School and Training Program through CMVC will combine real-life experience in a dental office with lectures focusing on treatments, laboratory, and dental safety. The topics of crowns, fillings, root canals, surgeries, placement of dentures, and course specifics will be instructed by in-field experts to provide students with the proper support and expertise to succeed.

CMVC Dental Assistant Admissions Requirements

At Compu-Med Vocational Careers, we keep the admissions process straightforward. First, we encourage prospective students to visit one of our Florida locations. By visiting the campus, students can quickly learn about the program structure by getting a glimpse of program material and requirements.

Previous academic experience is analyzed in the admissions process, and certain factors play a role in evaluating applicants. At CMVC, we seek applicants who have exhibited the desire to learn and succeed. You will be considered for admission if you are serious about achieving education and have a strong desire to grow.

To qualify for enrollment into any program at CMVC, an applicant must meet the following requirements for admission:

Prospective students must be 18 or older or have proof of emancipation.

A prerequisite of a High School Diploma or recipient of an Equivalent (General Equivalency Diploma (GED). ** Please note that students with High School Diplomas from foreign, non-English speaking countries will be required to obtain an additional certified translation of the High School Diploma in English. The document must be a certified document stating that the translated diploma is equivalent to the High School level in the United States.

Students who attended an eligible program at a Title IV institution before July I, 2012, may use any of the ATB alternatives to become eligible for Title IV HEA student assistance.

Depending on the vocational career program chosen, a passing score of a CMVC competent assessment or another entrance exam may be required.

Dental Assistant Job Outlook

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics “Employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 8 percent from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations”. About 56,400 openings for dental assistants are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.The trend of hiring experienced dental assistants who did proper job training and schooling may triumph over inexperienced assistants in terms of seeking employment. More job opportunities both full time and part time may arise with certified dental assistants who have completed a formal training program. Trained and licensed dental assistants are needed to help with oral care.
